It’s been a little over a week since I have updated this blog. Any other time, I’d apologize for it but this time, I have good reasons. I have been hard at work designing the new site, which I’ll talk about in a minute. I have been preparing for class which starts in a week, and I have picked up a lot more hours at the job.

Let’s talk about the new website though. I have the layout down; the design is how I want it. The problem I’m having is with the sidebar. I’m not quite sure what I want to do with this, or if I want to rid of the sidebar all together.

Currently in the design of the sidebar I have

• Google ads (Needs to be somewhere, sidebar seems a logical place to put it.)
• Recent Posts (Not really significant, it’s something that can be disposed of.)
• Polls (I would like this feature integrated in the sidebar, as well as posts.)
• Meta data (Login and register links, can be moved to footer, and should be.)

Other features I can possibly add to the sidebar

• Twitter updates (A little section to see my latest Tweets. This is a definite feature for the sidebar.)
• Flickr feed (A couple of my latest flickr photos, something light, maybe 4 at a time.)
• Social networks I’m a part of (Links to my profiles on sites such as MySpace, Flickr, Digg, etc.)
• Post Archive (Again something that isn’t very necessary but can be used.)
• Feed burner (Something I have now, but forgot to put in the design. This can stay or go it doesn’t matter)

First question, should there be a side bar in this new site?
